Israel depends upon the trees which JNF has been planting for 60 years. JNF depends upon its supporters to provide the trees. Trees help ensure that life flourishes, that the country is beautified and that Israelis are secure. They knit sand into soil, screen roads and communities, enhance the landscape and purify the air for humans and wildlife alike. Green policies may be fashionable today, but at JNF, we've been pursuing them for 100 years. No gift to friends or family can be more meaningful than making a significant contribution to the land and people of Israel in their name. Trees, at £10 each, may be purchased in any multiples of your choice.

The Botanical Gardens in Jerusalem are supported by the British Friends of JBG, who raise funds to provide scholarships for horticultural graduates to work there for a minimum of six months. This successful scheme has been in operation for more than 27 years and over 100 students from around the world have participated.

The future of Israel lies in the Negev. It has 60% of Israel's land area, but only 7% of its population. Successfully developing the Negev is vital if Israel is to reduce the over-crowding in the centre of the country. In the north-west of the Negev there are two communities, Masu'ot Yitshak, a religious moshav, and Negba, a secular kibbutz. They have achieved miracles, growing fruit, vegetables and flowers for sale in Israel and abroad. But even miracles need help. Donate now and help us sustain life in the Negev - help us build the miracle of Israel.

With your help, JNF is already supporting life in the desert. Three reservoirs have been built and two existing reservoirs have been refurbished, enabling nearby agricultural settlements to increase their crops. A medical centre has been built, two schools have been completed, trees have been planted and state-of-the-art facilities provided for a residential village for the severely disabled. Donate now and help us make the desert bloom.

Fighting Delegitimistion of Israel

A number of organisations, including Yachad and the Palestinian Diplomatic Mission, have drawn a great deal of attention to the case of the Sumarin family and the Israeli court's decision over possession of a house the family claim as their own.

JNF UK, which is an independent UK charity, has no ability to influence the Israeli court's decision. However, it is worth noting a few points which the aforementioned organisations conveniently failed to include in the information provided to supporters:

The Himnuta Association received the land currently occupied by the Sumarin family from the Israel Land Administration 20 years ago, and in exchange, transferred territory in Wadi Ara, which served to expand the Arab community there.
Himnuta operates in accordance with a court decision made in 2006, which ruled that the Sumarin family must vacate the property and pay compensation to the rightful owners of the land. Despite the court's decision, Himnuta has been in contact with the family for the past 5 years, suggesting they leave in exchange for financial compensation.

Israel's judiciary is important balancing branch of the country's democratic system, and is much admired for its absolute moral clarity and negation of any political influence apparent in its decisions. In any democratic country, the rule of law is an imperative if we are to uphold our freedoms and ensure equality and tolerance of others.

Building the Story of Israel...

Wehave supported Israel since the State was formed. In fact we started working on the dream before it became a reality. Since 1901 the JNF has helped build a country out of nothing. JNF Charitable Trust was formed in 1939. From that moment we raised money to buy land and create the necessary infrastructure to rebuild the Jewish homeland. Land was bought by British Jewry from the early 1920s until the early 1950s. With this ownership came a responsibility to the people that would inhabit it. Today our ties remain as strong as ever. We still own 13% of the land. And we are committed to improving the quality of life for 100% of the people.

Blue Box

The JNF Blue Box has embodied the hopes and aspirations of the Jewish people for nearly 110 years.

The real significance of the Blue Box is not the amount of money generated forthe Jewish National Fund, but the link of love it has forged between Diaspora Jewry and the Land of Israel. The 'pushke' became the popular means of fulfilling the Zionist dream, and nearly 110 years later stands as firm as the symbol of JNF. (Read more...)
